(KMOV) – Voters in St. Charles County will not get the chance to approve or block a smoking ban.
Six council members voted on whether such a ban should appear on the ballot. The vote went down three to three, which killed the bill.
A majority vote was needed.
This vote came after numerous, passionate speakers on both sides. Those for the ban cited health problems and deaths due to second hand smoke. Those against the ban claimed it would be bad for business and would cut into tax revenue, compromising jobs.
