SOUTH ROXANA, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Fire officials believe a wood burning stove ignited a fire that killed a South Roxana man in his home Monday morning.
According to authorities, firefighters were called to respond to the 200 block of Stephenson around 5 a.m.

The victim’s family told South Roxana Fire Chief Ed Allsman he routinely used a wood burning stove to heat his home. Allsman said the fire does not seem suspicious, but it is still under investigation.
The victim has not yet been identified.
Allsman added that he thinks this is the first fire fatality in South Roxana in at least 16 years.
