(KMOV) – Authorities have caught an inmate who escaped the Greenville Jail in Bond County, Ill. on Friday.

Police say officers were tipped to 30-year-old Andrew Walker’s whereabouts in Madison County Monday morning.

Authorities say a pursuit was started after police located Walker’s vehicle. Walker’s car eventually went off the road about two miles north of Pocahontas, Ill.

He tried to flee on foot but was apprehended and taken into custody around 7:30 a.m.

Sheriff’s officials say Walker was in jail Friday when he made his way into a vent leading to an outer room, then broke through a drop ceiling and fled through an exit door.  

Walker was being was being held on methamphetamine-production charges.
