(KMOV) – Some local parents are unhappy with the area school bus service after students started arriving at school, home late.

It’s a problem that has been going on for almost a week in the Rockwood School District.

The school district said it is not to blame for the problem, claiming the company it contracts with to provide bus service for the county seems to be having legal issues with some drivers.

Which means the late arrivals could be happening on purpose.

“I was like okay, are we going to receive another email message from them and we did that they were going to be ten minutes late again,” said Sandy Waidmann, a Rockwood parent.

It’s a message Waidmann is getting all to accustomed to seeing as her son attends Rockwood Valley Middle School and has been ten minutes late getting home every day for about a week.

“I want my kid home I want my kid home on time like he’s supposed to and he wants to get home on time,” said Waidmann.

Kim Cranston with the Rockwood School District said, “What we know is that at two of our middle schools buses have been arriving late at the end of the day to pick up students.” Times varying three to ten minutes late.

She also claims the district is not to blame. “This really is an issue with First Student and what we know is that it is a dispute between their employees.”

When asked if this is an intentional effort on the bus drivers to be late, Cranston said “again, I think that’s something you’re going to have to ask first student.”
