(KMOV) –The power of social media is being credited with helping police capture a pair of robbery suspects in Highland.

Highland Police released surveillance pictures after an employee was held up outside the Bradford Bank in February.

The police chief said the arrests were possible because local media posted the images on Facebook and Twitter.

“It’s really a force multiplier for us. It puts more eyes and ears out on the streets for us and gives us that opportunity, on a virtual base, go door to door with pictures and make contact with folks,” said Terry Bell, Highland Chief of Police.

Chief Bell said social media helped so much in this case, their police department is creating its own Facebook and Twitter accounts.
