EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – A woman was attacked while riding her bicycle on a popular trail in Edwardsville, police said.  Now, police have released a sketch of the suspect.

The incident happened when the girl was riding her bicycle along the Goshen Trail in the 500 block of Chancellor Dr. around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday when a man ran out from the woods saying his friend needed help.

The woman reported to police that as she was riding her bicycle, a black male subject jumped out from the tree line onto the bike trail and told her that his friend needed help.

After the woman got off her bicycle to provide assistance, the male subject grabbed the woman and pulled her to the ground, police said. The woman was able to break free and ride her bicycle away from the area.

Police said they're looking for a black male who is approximately 6’00” with a thin build, blue short sleeve shirt, black “basketball” type shorts with vertical white stripe on sides of shorts.
