ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – KMOV Channel 4 would like to announce Sharon Reed as the newest member to join the News 4 news team.
Reed will join Larry Conners to co-anchor the 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts on Channel 4. She will also join Jasmine Huda during News 4 at 5 p.m.
Reed comes to St. Louis from WOIO-TV in Cleveland, Ohio where she anchored the 5 and 10 p.m. newscasts. In addition to her anchor duties, Sharon frequently covered breaking news from the field, moderated political debates and also worked as an NBA and NFL sports reporter. As an avid sports enthusiast, Reed says she is excited about her move to Cardinal Nation.
“In my career, I’ve enjoyed digging for stories and delivering exclusives. It’s not a job… it’s my absolute passion,” Reed said. “I also believe in tackling assignments from a fresh perspective and with a different approach. It’s made me a better journalist and, I’d like to think, it’s helped the people who watch look at some things in a whole new way.”
In announcing the addition of Reed to the team, Sean McLaughlin, Executive News Director said, “Sharon is an excellent communicator and brings a lot of experience to the table. Her ability to connect with the audience and her passion for investigative journalism make her a great addition to the News 4 team.”
KMOV President and General Manager Mark Pimentel said, “We are excited to bring someone of Sharon’s talent and dedication to journalism to St. Louis.
Besides Cleveland, Reed previously worked as an anchor and reporter in Philadelphia, Miami, and Baltimore. She began her broadcasting career as an on-air correspondent for the syndicated program “American Journal.”
Reed is a graduate of Georgetown University and holds a Master’s Degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
Reed will start at the station later this month, with her first newscast being the 10pm news on October 30.
