ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Storms are expected to roll into the St. Louis area later Sunday and it may effect your morning commute Monday.

MoDOT says they are watching the weather closely today because crews are expected to lay concrete on the double decker structure on eastbound I-64 tonight.

If it rains too much, crews will not be able to pour the concrete and only one lane will be open on the interstate Monday morning. This will cause major delays in downtown.

MoDOT also tells News 4 they can't wait until next weekend to do the work and it would only delay the problem.

The interstate is already been planned to be fully closed next weekend starting at 8 p.m. Friday.

If the rain pushes the work back you should avoid eastbound I-64 altogether Monday morning.

To get around the mess, take Jefferson Avenue to eastbound I-44 onto the Poplar Street Bridge.
