(KMOV) – Funeral arrangements have been made for a 7-year-old boy who was killed after a fire swept through his home in Mehlville.
Visitation for Brian Davis will be held from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at St. Mathias, located at 796 Buckley Rd. His funeral is scheduled at the church at 10 a.m. Friday.
Authorities say the boy, his 13-year-old sister and grandmother were sleeping at their home in the 700 block of Hinder Dr. around 12:20 a.m. Monday when it caught fire.
The girl woke up to the sound of the fire, got Davis out of bed and they made their way towards the front door. Officials said at some point they got separated in the smoke and the girl made it outside.
Davis was later located by firefighters in a bedroom. He was taken from the home on a stretcher and transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities said he most likely passed away from smoke inhalation.
Officials said the grandmother jumped from a second-story window and broke her right heel. She and the girl were treated at St. Anthony’s Hospital and released.
St. Louis County bomb and arson units were investigating the cause of the fire.
