(KMOV.com) -- A security guard was struck by a car shooting off fireworks in west St. Louis City.

St. Louis Police reported people were shooting fireworks from a car when security guards from a nearby apartment complex approached the suspects.

Police on the scene then reported the suspects tried to flee and hit one of the guards. The car then hit a parked car and then a building.

Police said they are unsure of the condition of the security guard, but said his injuries are not life threatening.

The driver was taken into custody.

The accident was reported in the 3400 block of Hamilton around 1 a.m. Friday.
