(KMOV) -- A newly-opened search warrant in St. Clair County reveals investigators seized drug evidence, guns and ammunition from former judge Michael Cook’s hunting cabin.
That is the same 2,500 sq. ft. cabin St. Clair County Circuit Judge Joe Christ died in March 2013 after overdosing on cocaine while staying with Cook.
The Belleville News Democrat is reporting the search warrant was executed two months after Christ’s death.
Around that time, Cook was charged with possessing heroin and having a gun while illegally using controlled substances. Cook, who later resigned as judge, pleaded guilty to the charges in November and is currently awaiting sentencing.
Cook’s charges have led to fellow judges weighing whether to grant retrials to defendants convicted under him.
