(KMOV) – Police on Tuesday continued their search for a missing Arnold man whose truck was found abandoned along the Meramec River last week.

Arnold police told News 4 officers were back at the Tezsars Woods Conservation looking for 41-year-old John Pena, whose truck was found off Rockwood Rd. near Telegraph Rd.

Authorities say officers went to the Arnold home of Pena on Thursday after his family called and asked for a well being check.

Police say Pena wasn’t home so they pinged his cell phone, which appeared to be located in the woods of a conservation area along the river.

Officers later found Pena’s truck in the conservation area along the Meramec River.  Police searched it using K-9s and deployed search boats along the river to check the banks, but found nothing.

St. Louis County police tried searching for him again the next day by air with a chopper, but again nothing turned up.

His family says Pena had recently become more despondent.

"My gut feeling is something way worse because I've never heard him sound that way, and I've known him for 17 years," said his wife, Rachel Pena. "I don't have a good feeling."

Authorities say they do not suspect foul play and continue to talk with Pena’s relatives.
