ST. LOUIS—The Exploradome at the St. Louis Science Center was deflated after 16 years on Monday.

The Science Center deflated the bubble-like structure to make way for expansion of exhibit space.

The air-supported Exploradome opened in 1997 as a temporary facility for special events and exhibitions.

The Science Center opened Boeing Hall in 2011 to replace the Exploradome.
