(KMOV) – Officials say they river levels are steady and sandbagging efforts are no longer needed in Kimmswick.

The news comes a day after officials called for volunteers to help shore up a leak in a temporary levee in town.

Kimmswick EMA director Gary Paszkiewicz on Tuesday said if the levee broke the entire town would have flooded.

Volunteers who responded to the call for help packed the Blue Owl restaurant parking lot with sandbags in case river levels go higher than expected on Wednesday.
