Flood waters wash away Rte. 67 after temporary barricade gives way in Alton

 ALTON, Ill. – Authorities have closed several lanes around the Clark bridge in West Alton after a temporary flood barricade broke, allowing flood waters to crest over Route 67.  

MoDOT crews placed a flood barricade in the area of Lincoln Shields Access Road gave way. Monday afternoon as flood waters continued to rise between the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers.

Illinois and Missouri authorities are coordinating a closure of the southbound lanes of Route 67 at both ends of the Clark Bridge.
