(KMOV) – A reward is being offered for help leading to the person responsible for leaving a dog to die in a north St. Louis dumpster.

Authorities say “Kimmy” was found inside the dumpster in the 4700 block of Hammett Pl. on Thursday.

Stray Rescue of St. Louis officials say the dog is safe and well.

"When I got the call I immediately thought of three dogs who experienced the same fate off the top of my head, Op, Clovis, and Our Little Boy who later died and which lead to a successful prosecution.” said Randy Grim, founder of Stray Rescue.  He continues “Your pet is not trash and not something you toss out with the garbage, this mindset must change!”

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the abuse hotline at 314-771-6121 ext. 255.
