MAPLEWOOD, Missouri (KMOV.com) -- Residents were forced abandon their possessions when their Maplewood apartment building caught fire Monday morning. 

According to authorities, the fire started inside an two-story apartment building in the 7200 block of Anna around 6:30 a.m.  
 
Multiple fire crews responded to the scene and reported smoke pouring from a unit on the second floor.  They were able to get the fire under control quickly.  Crews are still on the scene putting out hot spots.
 
Residents inside the building were evacuated for their safety and no injuries were reported.  At this time, it is not known how extensive the damage may be.

There is no word on what caused the fire.
