(KMOV)  -- The battle lines are being drawn over a proposed development in south St. Louis County which could wipe out a heavily used commuter lot and access to hundreds of homes.

Donna Ernst and her neighbors showed News 4’s Jasmine Huda what it’s all about; the MoDOT commuter lot at Interstate 270 and Gravois and the overflow lot on the other side of Kennerly Road.

They say these lots are full most of the time even on weekend.

But what really has them upset is they have heard a developer will buy both lots and close off access to Kennerly Road.

“I mean that’s access to St. Anthony’s hospital, the ambulances use it to get to St.  Anthony’s,” said Ernst.

There are two nursing homes, an elementary school and almost 1,000 residents who would lose easy access.

Missouri State Representative Mike Leara said he’s heard from the developers and city officials of Sunset Hills who said there are no plans to close access to Kennerly Road.

“At the moment I’m comfortable with the fact they are responding to the constituents there is no plan. But you know plans can change and that’s my concern,” said Leara.
