ELLISVILLE, Mo.—Adam Paul is back in the role of mayor of Ellisville, and many residents are apparently glad to have him back.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that when Paul entered the City Council chambers Tuesday he was greeted with a standing ovation from about 75 people. He says he was nearly moved to tears.

A St. Louis County judge on Monday reinstated the 32-year-old mayor who had been ousted by the city council in April.

Paul was elected in April 2012 after campaigning against a Wal-Mart project. He was removed after the city council found him guilty of violating the city’s charter for allegedly giving employees illegal orders, failing to control council meetings and other concerns.

The judge ruled that Paul’s due process may have been violated.
