(KMOV) -- A Missouri lawmaker, who is in favor of red light cameras, was involved in car accident catured by the device.
Missouri State Representative Mike Colona is advocating the use of red light cameras after his accident happened earlier this week. The accident comes as the debate over the validity of the cameras is heating up in Jefferson City.
Representative Colona posted this statement on his Facebook page: “Thank goodness there's a red light camera at Chippewa and Landsdowne that caught the whole thing. We are ok, but this video helped me convince the insurance company I was not a fault."
Currently, a Republican sponsored bill is pending in the state capitol. The bill says drivers involved in accidents can’t have points assessed against their license based on camera images.
