ST. LOUIS -- A suburban St. Louis man is earning praise for helping a 77-year-old woman after a bundle of money blew onto an interstate highway.
KMOX Radio reports that Ray Leuthauser was driving on Interstate 44 Monday when he noticed an envelope on the trunk of a car in front of him. As the car exited, the envelope popped open and cash flew out.
Leuthauser stopped and picked up all he could get to -- more than $300. He also found an identification card and contacted the woman. She told him the money was for a homeless shelter where she volunteers, and said she would have to pay back the lost $475.
Leuthauser, a construction worker, shared her story with co-workers, who passed the hat and made up the difference
