ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – An open house will be held Tuesday night to give the public another chance to learn about changes coming to the Gateway Arch grounds.

The event will take place at the Old Courthouse from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The project includes plans for both sides of the Mississippi River with the main goal to make the Arch more accessible and safe to travel to for visitors.

A part of the plan will be covering Memorial and I-70, creating a green mall space from the Old Courthouse to the Arch and updating the Museum of Westward Expansion underneath the Arch.

Last week, the CityArchRiver Foundation announced that it has secured funding from public and private sources to support the new development.  The foundation has raised $57 million of the projected $553 million needed to complete the project and is hoping to unveil the new grounds in October 2015.

The foundation is looking for private donations and federal money to get the project started.
