(KMOV.com) – An Illinois State Highway was shut down because of downed power poles after a storm struck the Metro East Friday evening and did not reopen until Saturday night.

Route 40 between Schlaefer and Triad Rod was shut down between Troy and St. Jacob because 20 power poles were knocked down. Authorities said traffic was being re-routed.

The storm left several thousand people without power as a result.
