Ferguson, MO (KMOV.com) – A tense standoff between police and protesters Monday night became even more chaotic when a flurry of gunshots were heard and two people were injured.

Police said one person was shot in the hand and they did not disclose the injuries of the other person who was shot. Both shooting victims are expected to survive.

News 4’s Julian Johnson was on West Florissant near Canfield Dr. when he reported hearing what sounded like gunshots.

Moments later, a St. Louis County Police armored vehicle broke through police lines and drove directly into a crowd of protesters who had been blocking West Florissant.

The armored vehicle made its way through the crowd and then sped away on West Florissant toward the area where the shots were heard.

Several police units with lights and sirens blaring sped by the News 4 crew and took up positions about two blocks away.

Police said they did not fire any shots during the standoff Monday night.
