(KMOV) – Drivers in Missouri sounded off about the road conditions during the morning commute on Thursday but the warm pavement and congestion on the roadways made for a difficult time for crews to treat and treat again.

The Missouri Department of Transportation says that the timing of the snow caused major problems for treating the roads during rush hour.

MODOT admitted that it did not get the roads treated the way it had hoped in time for the early commuters, but cite that the congestion on the streets made it difficult for crews to re-treat the roads.

Missouri Highway Patrol reports 120 to 150 crashes took place compared to 40 to 45 in Illinois on Thursday.
