HAZELWOOD, Mo (KMOV.com) -- Parents and police are shocked Monday after children said an adult threatened to assault middle school students at their bus stop.
Monday night in a statement the Hazelwood School District said they will have security at the bus stop and extra police patrols.
One mother of a student is still shaken following the incident.
“He said the father came over and started pointing at each one of them putting his finger into their chests saying do you know what I will to do to you, I will pop you,” said Shana McGilberry. “I was absolutely livid, absolutely livid because I’m imagining what type of accidents could have happened.”
McGillberry says that was her reaction when her 13-year-old son told her what happened at the morning school bus stop along Chapel Ridge.
Reportedly, the man – a father of a student- attacked one of the students in retaliation for bullying his son.
“The subject grabbed him by the back of the neck I believe and pushed him,” said Lieutenant Mike Brady. “[That’s] assault third degree.”
Both police and the parents say the man was there to settle a score.
“’I want you to tell me who was messing with my son’, and all of them were ‘we don’t know what you’re talking about,’” said McGillberry. “There’s some accusations there was a weapon.”
Police tell News 4 they don’t believe the man had a weapon, but they also don’t like what happened, and they’re hoping to speak with him.
It’s possible they could charge him with assault.
