(KMOV.com) – Police say the body of a 6-year-old boy was found at Fugitive Beach Friday afternoon in Rolla.
Authorities said Noah Cook, from Fenton, was swimming with his family in a recreational area in a quarry, when the family got out of the water they realized he wasn't there. The family then reported him missing before emergency personnel found his body in water that was 15 feet deep.
All swimmers must sign a waiver that states there is no lifeguard on duty.
"A 12-year-old girl came to me and said her brother was missing," said Fugitive Beach Owner Mark Kearse. "So I got on the radio and alerted my staff and had her take me to her mother."
Four staff members were on duty at the time of the incident and officials with Fugitive Beach say they have never had a drowning since the beach opened in May.
An autopsy has been scheduled.
