BRENTWOOD (KMOV) – Authorities are searching for a suspect who robbed a bank inside a Brentwood grocery store on Monday.

Authorities said the suspect approached the First National Bank inside the Dierbergs in the 8400 block of Eager Rd. around 3:15 p.m.

Police said he walked up to the teller and handed over a note demanding money. He was then given an undisclosed amount of cash and fled. Authorities said the suspect implied he had a weapon but nobody saw him show one.

No injuries were reported.

Surveillance photos showed the suspect was a white man wearing a white baseball hat and black sweatshirt. No other description was available.

Since August 29th there have been 10 robberies at bank branches inside local grocery stores. However, police say the description of the suspect does not match descriptions from other unsolved bank robberies.  The FBI says it believes another man is responsible for two robberies at First Bank branches inside a Dierbergs in Florissant and Creve Coeur.

An FBI spokesman said there has been a rise in grocery store bank robberies but authorities treat the them like any other bank robbery.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call their local police station.
