ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Police have arrested two suspects on the Arch Grounds following an armed robbery Wednesday night.
A MetroLink rider was robbed on the platform of the Arch Laclede’s Landing stop. The male victim was approached by a suspect armed with a gun, and told to hand over his belongings.
The victim only had $26, and was not hurt in the incident.
Police responded to the robbery, and pursued and detained two individuals they saw on the Arch Grounds they believed to be suspicious.
Those individuals are being held for questioning as potential witnesses to the robbery, and police believe the suspect is still at large.
A canvass of the area did reveal a gun, though officers aren’t certain if it was the one used in the crime.
Police say despite the crowd, the suspects were undeterred.
"Robberies happen where people are," said Lieutenant Daniel Coll. "That platform is pretty crowded. So obviously, a crime of opportunity. And they took advantage of a man there waiting for the train."
