(KMOV) –St. Louis County Police have increased patrols in a south county neighborhood after a suspicious male approached a girl on Wednesday.

Randy Vaughn with the St. Louis County Police said a 12-year-old girl was sitting in her home on the 5200 block of Patterson when a man rang the door bell around 11:30 a.m.

The girl answered the door and the man asked her if she wanted to go for a ride and to help look for “Cody.”

Police say the girl responded no, slammed the door and called police.

Although the man did not do anything illegal, police have increased patrols in that area for a suspicious person.

Oakville’s Blades Elementary school is located near the home where this incident took place.

Police have described the man as being white with a slim build. He is approximately 5’8 and was seen wearing a bright orange shirt with an unknown logo on it and shorts.

He was reportedly driving a white full-size pick-up truck.

Police do not know who or what “Cody” is.
