ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – Police arrested a man who allegedly broke into a home while a police officer’s wife was sleeping in south St. Louis early Thursday.

The victim told authorities she was sleeping at her home in the 3700 block of Juniata around 12:40 a.m. when she awoke to the sound of glass breaking on the first floor.

Police said the woman, who’s a St. Louis police officer’s wife, went downstairs and saw the suspect crawling through her first window.

According to authorities, she grabbed a gun and told the suspect to get out of the house.

The suspect then fled the scene.

Officials said the officer’s wife called police and gave a solid description of the suspect. He was eventually caught about a mile away in the 3400 block of Louisiana.

Authorities said charges against the suspect were pending.
