ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – Homicide is investigating after a 42-year-old man was stabbed to death over a bag of Cheetos late Tuesday night near downtown St. Louis.

Police say the incident began shortly after 9 p.m. when a 49-year-old man allegedly stabbed the victim in the chest over an argument involving the chips.

The incident happened on the north side of the street on Washington Avenue at 6th Street right under the "Busch Stadium, America's Center, Visitor's Center" directional sign.

Police bike units caught the suspect on foot at 8th and Pine. He is in police custody at this time.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he later died.

Police have not released the identity of the suspect or victim at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
