ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Police are investigating after a man was shot near the Gateway Arch grounds Monday night.
Authorities say officers were called to the intersection of Leonor K. Sullivan Boulevard and Chouteau around 8:51 p.m. for a report of a shooting.
According to police, a 22-year-old man and two friends were driving along Leonor K. Sullivan when they were flagged down by two men. The two men demanded property from the victims.
One suspect, armed with a handgun struck the 22-year-old driver in the face and then fired several shots into the vehicle. The driver was struck in the legs multiple times.
Officers later responded to a local hospital where they took statements from the three victims.
The suspects were described to police as black males in their late teens with thin builds. One suspect had shoulder length dreadlocks and was wearing a blue zip up jacket with a silver collar and dark pants. The other suspect was said to have short hair and wearing a white hooded sweatshirt.
