PETTIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Authorities report three prisoners who escaped from police custody and stole an officer's car Thursday morning have been caught.

According to reports, the three escaped while being transported in Pettis County, west of Columbia, Missouri.  The suspects, described by police as two white males and a white female, reportedly overpowered a transport officer and stole a police car.  That car had weapons inside, officials said.

After stealing the car, the escapees headed east on Interstate 70 and officials thought they may have been bound for St. Louis.

Authorities caught up with two of the suspects in Howard County and took them back into custody without incident.  The third suspect was taken into custody a short time later in the same area.
