(KMOV) – Authorities arrested a man who was stabbed with a steak knife after allegedly breaking into a home in Richmond Heights on Wednesday.

Steven Turner, 39, was charged Tuesday with first-degree burglary, third-degree assault and stealing under $500.

According to court documents, Turner went to a house in the 1210 block of Woodland Avenue and rang the door bell several times.

Police said a woman answered the door and Turner forced his way inside despite the woman refusing to let him in.

He went to the second floor of the home and started looking for a man who lived there, but he was not home.

Authorities said Turner then threw a beer can at the woman and started aggressively moving towards her.

Police said that’s when the woman grabbed a steak knife and stabbed Turner as he approached her.

Turner, who suffered several small puncture wounds, then took the woman’s car keys and left the home.

Authorities said Turner was pulling away from the victim’s home when he was stopped by police.
