(KMOV) – Police located a woman who was kidnapped during an alleged drug deal in a north St. Louis neighborhood Monday afternoon.

According to police, a man told authorities, he was robbed at gunpoint of the U-Haul pickup truck he was driving on the 5700 block of Natural Bridge Road shortly before 3 p.m.

Police say after reviewing surveillance footage and talking to witnesses, investigators determined it had been a drug deal gone bad.

The male victim reportedly owed money to the suspects involved and when he could not pay them, they stole the rental truck with the passenger still inside.

Police say the victim’s girlfriend was in the passenger’s seat when the alleged carjacking took place.

The suspects fled in an unknown direction with the female victim still in the vehicle. The woman was located  about six hours later with no apparent injuries.

Additional details were not immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
