KIRKWOOD, Mo.—An 18-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly assaulted a woman inside a women’s bathroom at St. Louis Community College-Meramec.

Jevon Mallory, 18, was charged Tuesday with first-degree assault while on school property, a felony.

Police say Mallory was at the school’s Kirkwood campus last week when he walked into the restroom and snuck up behind an 18-year-old Chesterfield woman.

The victim told police Mallory then grabbed her around her neck and threw her to the floor.

The woman said she believed the man was trying to kill her.

Campus police say a teacher heard the woman screaming and stopped the attack. The woman suffered bruises and scratches.

Mallory has since been barred from all St. Louis Community College campuses pending a disciplinary hearing.
