(KMOV) –A man was charged after he reportedly gave a gun to his 16-year-old stepbrother who St. Ann police say broke into a home shot a man and held the gun to a woman’s head.

Police say 16-year-old Michael Ronnell Brown in Nov. took a pistol allegedly given to him by his 22-year-old stepbrother to a home on St. Mark Lane.

Court documents say Brown held a “gun to a woman’s head, and then shot a man in the thigh” during a drug deal “gone bad.”

A tipster on Facebook led police to Brown, who was charged as an adult with first-degree burglary, assault and armed criminal action. According to court records, Brown has several previous felony charges.

Brown’s stepbrother, Calvin Sharp, 22, was charged with unlawful transfer of a weapon. Police say the gun was registered to an acquaintance of Sharp.

“Bottom line, that gun was used in a crime. And now we have that handgun, it’s off the street. Hopefully it will be destroyed once the case is closed,” said Chief Aaron Jimenez with  St. Ann Police Department. “The good thing is that with the help of the Prosecuting Attorney’ office and great detective work, this case was solved.”
