(KMOV) – A 17-year-old man has been charged with shooting a teenage student near the Vashon High School campus Wednesday morning.

Lamarco Love was charged Thursday with first-degree assault and three counts of armed criminal action.

According to police, a group of teenagers were walking to school near the intersection of Webster and Brantner around 7:45 a.m. when they were approached by Love and two others.

Police said the groups then began to argue. Authorities said as the first group turned around to walk away Love allegedly fired several shots, striking the 17-year-old victim in the back.

Love and the others he arrived with then fled the scene..

The teen, who is in his senior year at Vashon, was transported to the hospital in stable condition. Authorities said he was breathing and conscious.

According to police, there has been an ongoing feud between the two groups, though they did not think it was gang-related.
