(KMOV) – Police say a man with a ski mask attempted to abduct a 9-year-old girl in Lake St. Louis Wednesday night.

The incident happened on the parking lot of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 1401 S. Henke Rd, around 8:30 p.m.

Authorities say the girl got separated from another child she was playing with while her parents were attending an event at the church.

That’s when police say she was approached by a man dressed in dark clothing and wearing a ski mask.

The girl told police she ran inside the church to tell someone about the man. Police say she then looked outside and the man offered her $20 if she left with him. The girl then went back inside.

The suspect was described as 6-foot-tall white man, dressed in all black or dark clothing.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Detective Brett Carbray at the Lake Saint Louis Police Department at 636-625-8018.
