(KMOV) – Authorities are searching for a gunman who shot five people with an assault rifle at a north St. Louis apartment complex early Tuesday morning.
Police said an 18-year-old woman and her four friends were walking out of an apartment in the 1900 block of Warren in north St. Louis just after 1 a.m. when a black male armed with the AK-47 came around the corner started shooting.
Police said the victims then ran back into the woman’s apartment. Authorities said that’s when the suspect kicked open the front door and continued shooting.
The three woman and two men, all ages 18 to 23, all suffered gunshot wounds.
A 20-year-old woman who was struck in the back and femur was in critical condition. Everyone else was stable.
Police said they believe the incident was connected to a shooting that left three people injured in the 1800 block of Warren earlier in the day.
The investigation is ongoing.
