(KMOV) – A man faces charges after he allegedly stole more than $1,100 worth of eyeglass frames from a Chesterfield store in early August.
Whitfield Mongtomery, 41, was charged Sept. 12 with stealing over $500, a felony.
According to court documents, employees of Clarkson Eyecare kept their eye on Montgomery when he and another person walked into the store in the 1720 block of Clarkson Rd. on Aug. 2.
Police said the store had received information from other locations that he had tried to steal eyeglass frames.
Employees told police they followed Montgomery and made sure he didn’t steal anything. He then left in a white SUV, which was soon pulled over by police.
That’s when police said they found he had stolen seven eyeglass frames from America’s Best Contacts and Eye Glasses in the 1600 block of Clarkson. According to police, the frames were worth a total of $1,120.
He was arrested and taken into custody on a $10,000 bond.
