(KMOV.com) – Authorities say a man recently released from prison escaped from the East St. Louis Police Department after officers picked him up for allegedly raping his ex-girlfriend during a home invasion.
East St. Louis Police Chief Michael Floore said Lecourtney Luckett was released from jail on January 25. That same day, authorities allege Luckett went to his ex-girlfriend’s home and raped and beat her.
East St. Louis officers found Luckett on Thursday and took him into custody. As Luckett was being processed, he managed to escape out a half-open door.
A police sergeant who was not part of Luckett’s processing chased him down and was able to apprehend him two blocks away.
