EAST ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – Police are searching for a man who allegedly raped a woman after she begged for her life in East St. Louis early Tuesday morning.
Authorities said a woman got off the Emerson Park Metrolink station in East St. Louis around 12:50 a.m. and started walking home.
Police said when she reached the 1700 block of Parsons Ave., a man came up from behind, stuck a gun in her back and demanded her money.
Authorities said the woman told the man she had kids and asked him not to kill her. According to police, he said he did not care and took all her cash.
Police said the man walked the woman to a hidden area and raped her. He then hit her in the head with his gun and fled the scene.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to call the East St. Louis Police Department or St. Louis Crime Stoppers.
