(KMOV) – Police say a 49-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly detonated an explosive device near a south St. Louis County business on Thursday.

Joseph Wambach was charged Friday with knowingly burning or exploding.

Authorities said officers responded to the 11800 block of Tesson Ferry after a witness heard an explosion, which shook buildings and damaged the window framing of an Avon Store.

St. Louis County Police spokesman Randy Vaughn says an investigation led them to Wambach, who placed the device outside the store, then walked into Hessler’s bar.

Wambach was taken into custody later Thursday. Police say he resisted arrest.

A motive has not been determined. No one was hurt.

Wambach's bond was set at $20,000.
