(KMOV.com) – An 8-year-old boy was the third person to die from a stabbing at a home in Warren County Friday.
Mason Vandiver was pronounced dead about 1 a.m. Tuesday at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center. He had been on life support since the attack.
Lexy Vandiver, 29, and Tara Fifer, 22, who was visiting the home, also died. Jessica Kavanagh, 27, the estranged wife of the suspect, is still in the hospital.
Shawn Kavanagh, 23, was charged Saturday with two counts of first-degree murder, four counts of armed criminal action, first-degree assault, first-degree domestic assault and first-degree burglary. He was charged Tuesday with an additional count of first-degree murder due to Mason's death.
Police said Kavanagh went to a house in the 26000 block of Humber Rd. to see Jessica Kavanagh, who had been staying at the home with several friends.
Authorities said Kavanagh was asked to leave, but instead stabbed the three women. He then allegedly stabbed Lexy Vandiver, who authorities say tried to fend him off.
Police say Kavanagh then called 911 and told police he had killed several people and stabbed his wife at the home. Warren County deputies arrived to the scene and found Kavanagh covered in blood.
The then found Fifer and Vandiver dead in the house with multiple stab wounds.
Police say Lexy Vandiver lived at the home with Mason and her 18-month-old daughter, who was found inside the house unharmed.
Kavanagh is being held in the Warren County Jail without bail.
