(KMOV) – A man is in custody after police said he injured his girlfriend after attacking her on Main Street in St. Charles.

Charles Forgue, 36, was charged June 14 with second-degree domestic assault and felonious restraint.

According to court documents, Forgue was driving with his girlfriend in the 100 block of N. Main Street on June 9 when he struck her in the face and body, breaking her nose and a bone in her eye socket. The woman also suffered bruised ribs.

Authorities said the woman jumped from the vehicle and Forgue chased her down. He then grabbed her hair, placed her in a “bear hug” and forced her back into the car without her consent.

During an investigation, Forgue admitted to a previous assault of the victim at the Inn Towne Suites in the 1700 block of Veterans Memorial Dr. in St. Charles. The victim suffered visible bruises and swellings on her face and head in that incident.

Both Forgue and the victim were living together when the two assaults occurred.

Forgue is being held in St. Charles County Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bail.
