(KMOV) – A local man is accused of accidentally “pocket-dialing” 9-1-1 after he stole a motorcycle in Maryland Heights last year.
Michael Hunter, 32, was charged Aug. 13 with stealing a motor vehicle, a felony.
According to court documents, Hunter stole a Yamaha motorcycle from the 12400 block of Lyric Ct. on July 25, 2012.
Authorities said during the theft Hunter accidentally called police three times. Police said the dispatcher could hear the sound of metal clanking and Hunter talking.
According to police, the motorcycle was later found defaced and officers used fingerprints and DNA to trace it back to Hunter.
Police said Hunter later denied the theft. He was taken into custody on a $5,000 bond.
