Armed robbery suspect crashes vehicle, shots himself in north St. Louis

(KMOV.com) – Police say a man who crashed his vehicle and shot himself following an armed robbery in Florissant Wednesday morning has died.

Tye Kaufman, 25, was pronounced dead just before 8:35 a.m. Thursday morning.

Police say Kaufman was armed when he entered the US Bank in the 2200 block of North 67.   

Following the robbery, police spotted the suspect’s vehicle and attempted to stop him. Kaufman then hit the bridge overpass and crashed at Interstate 270 and Lindbergh in Hazelwood.

Police say Kaufman shot himself after wrecking. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

 

No other details were immediately available.
