ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – St. Louis police say they have identified a recent trend of license plate thefts from vehicles in the Central West End.

According to officials, the plates are being taken at all times of the day. Supplemental patrols have been dispatched in an effort to help curb the thefts.

Anyone who has their license plate stolen from their vehicle can report it to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department non-emergency line (314) 231-1212.

Furthermore, authorities said to help protect yourself from this sort of crime, you can purchase and install special security screws to affix you plate(s) to your vehicle. You can also purchase a lockable frame or cover.
